Part of a tyrilogy of new expressions – Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Rum Cask Finish, Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Wine Cask Blend, and Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Espresso Roast – were unveiled by Diageo in September 2017.
Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Rum Cask Finish (40.8% abv) is said to be the result of 10 years worth of experiments by blender Chris Clark, and is a blend of whiskies from Speyside and the Lowlands that have been finished in casks that previously held Caribbean pot still rum.
Nose: Pineapple, green banana, sugar cane/stock syrup, cinnamon toast, vanilla pods, caramelised tropical fruit, leafy-minerally notes.
Palate: Rum and raisin fudge, fresh and tropical fruit, dusting of cinnamon, vanilla and chocolate honeycomb.
Finish: Gingersnaps, rum soaked pineapple, demorera sugar, banana mallt shake, milk chocolate and aromatic spice.
Classic bit of blending from the biggest scotch whisky brand in the world with a huge rum cask influence.
Nariz: piña, plátano verde, jarabe de caña de azúcar / caldo, tostadas de canela, vainas de vainilla, fruta tropical caramelizada
Boca: Fudge de ron y pasas de uva, fruta fresca y tropical, espolvoreado de canela, vainilla y panal de chocolate
Acabado: Gingersnaps, piña empapada en ron, azúcar demorera, batido de plátano mallorquín, chocolate con leche y especias aromáticas
